This is a travelogues type drama. The main character of the play is countrified Mr. Javed Hasan. He grew up in villages, so, he considered countrified. He is polite, helpful, meritorious, smart in his job but in the life of the city, he could not adapt. So, he retired from his job of the manager post in a ceramic industry named Luna Ceramic by young owner Luna Madam. In search of livelihood, he went to Rangamati, a hill town in Bangladesh, and was abducted by the Peace Corps. The drama is written about the life of the hill-lifestyles’, their happiness and sorrow, struggle, the details of various religious ceremonies of them, etc. The change in the living of lifestyles of the people of hill area Rangamati after the construction of the Kaptai Dam (A electricity making powerhouse by deposited water) on Kornophuli river at Rangamati, Bangladesh
The Kaptai Dam was built in 1956-62 during the Pakistan Administration era. Due to the Kaptai lake, 54,000 acres of agricultural land was submerged, which was 40 percent of the total agricultural land in these areas. In addition, 29 square miles of government-protected forests and unclassified 234 square miles of forest were also submerged. A total of one lakh people was displaced by about 18,000 families. Bangladesh government has done a lot for the tribe’s welfare.
But during the Pakistan Administration era due to Kaptai lake all of the tribe’s houses, cropland all went. Not much was done for them at that time. The scene for their rehabilitation was not mooted. Then the tribes have been wandering in the mountains looking for a living.
However, it has created an alternative action for tribes. Rangamati has created huge opportunities for tourism. The easy communication system has been ensured for the transport of mountain tree resources. If the tourists are guaranteed safe movement there, they have huge employment opportunities in this regard. Moreover, the tribe does not treat well the Bengalis who are here. If they live on the basis of equality, government and foreign aid will be an increase - which will help them in their development. Prerequisite for the promotion of peace and harmony with society.
It is true that when there is no cropland on the plainlands, they grew cropland by cutting big trees on the Hills. At that cause, the mountain collapsed in a big rain. Day by day their cropland is declining. Their shortage is also increasing. They are very worried about that. Because someday they have no land for cultivation. How way they will survive? ......it is a big question for their future generation. Nobody will not understand all of their struggles except practical experience.
